JAKUPOVICH TAKES OVER BOGDAN, GASPARYAN LEAVES TOURNAMENT
The first matches of the main draw WTA Baltic Open 2019 have started on the courts of the National Tennis Center Lielupe.

On the seventh court in 1 hour and 37 minutes Dalila Jakupovich from Serbia defeat the Romanian Ana Bogdan - 6/3, 7/6 (5). The tennis players had an close match, but Romanian's two double faults at tie break turned out to be fatal, what helped the Serb to reach the second round, where she will meet the winner of the match Anastasija Sevastova /Varvara Flink.

At the same time, Bogdan's compatriot Irina Bara was playing against Russian Margarita Gasparyan. From the very beginning of the match it became clear there would be a long battle, so each of them took a set 6/4, 4/6. However, by the middle of the last set, it became obvious that some kind of injury bothered the Russian. As a result, at the score 0/4 Gasparyan retired due to an injury of the left hip.

The final score is 6/4, 4/6, 4/0. In next match Irina Bara will meet with the winner of Sorana Cirstea/ Valentina Ivakhnenko.
