This week Jurmala welcomes the international WTA tournament, press-service of the Baltic Open decided to figure out what do guests think about the atmosphere.

The famous Russian tennis player, the former world #8, Mikhail Youzhny came to the tournament with his family and appreciated both the high level of organization and the opportunity to rest at the sea in Jurmala:

«Great atmosphere and great organization of the tournament. An ideal place to spend your time, especially with your family. There is a good playground on the territory where you can leave the children playing. Everything is very compact and thought out. Also a good food court, where both parents and children will find something to eat», – Mikhail shared his opinion. «I would not point out any single match, basically I was following the results of Russian girls», – added Youzhny about the tournament.

Throughout the tournament week, the current captain of the Russian national team at the Fed Cup, Igor Andreev, followed the Russians success. «It's great that a tennis tournament was made in such a beautiful place, a rather respectable tennis had been this whole week. I am glad that Nastya Potapova reached the semifinals. So only the best impressions. If earlier in Jurmala were held only musical events, now there is also a world-class sport event, players come from different parts of the world and play at a professional level. I think that it is very important for the development of tennis in Latvia and the neighbouring countries», – said Igor Andreev.

«I am amazed by the changes that have happened here, I played the Pro Am tournament here myself two years ago, this tennis center has changed a lot. Jurmala has always been the center of attraction for tennis back in Soviet times and, I hope, it will get this status back. Because of the climate, of course, the conditions are unique. Not without reason hockey players and other athletes are having training camps here, the air here is wonderful, you recover here not in hours, but in minutes, thanks to the stunning microclimate. At first impression, I can say that the surface is high-quality», – said about his impressions Igor Kunitsyn, a two-time winner of the ATP singles tournaments.
