CAROLINE GARCIA: "TENNIS IS ABOUT PASSION"
- Can you tell me what did help you to compose yourself while your opponent was saving another, and then another, and then another match point? That was definitely tough.

- I was trying to stay focused and positive. I know, that when I was serving, it was easy to hold the game. But I had to stay concentrated. Everything can happen. One break point can be really difficult to get back from. I was trying to move a little bit from my position. And to close the angle. I know Kristyna Pliskova has a great serve. I knew that she can fire an ace anytime. I had to wait for the opportunity to come up. I was waiting for the second serve to be able to do what I planned – to win.

- The part of tennis is just to take parts in such activities. Sometimes they are different – media activities, cooking workshops and etc. What do you prefer more? What do you prefer more?

- Yeah, it is the part of the job. It depends on the mood and situation. For example, some activities are to tour around the host city. And it's great, because we usually do not have time for that.

- This is the question from the kids, who are shy a little bit to ask themselves. Who is your favorite male tennis player in the past and in the present?

- My favorite player is definetly Roger Federer. I think you can learn a lot from this guy. Even when he won fifteen Slams, he tried to improve his game, he tried to be more aggresive with his backhand and serve better and move more forward. I think he is really amazing how he has built his career. It is great. And about my favorite player in the past. I can't really say. When I started watching tennis Roger Federer was already playing. He is the present and the past for me.

- Did you start watching his games when you were a kid?

- Yeah, I remember watching his games when I was 11 years old.

- We've got many kids in the room right now. Can you give them an advice how to become the top player?

- Yeah, of course. Tennis is about passion. And you have to find stimul, what to hold on to. There are bad days, there are good days. For example, today I won the match, but I was close to losing it. It is complicated, but it makes you better.
