ANASTASIJA SEVASTOVA: "MY DESIRE TO WIN HELPED ME TODAY"

- Congratulations on your win! The match was clearly stressful. Tell me, did you feel the same way?

- Yes, I was nervous. My opponent had nothing to lose, she started out really well. But something happened at the beginning, and spectators didn't make it better for her. The girls know how I play. I wasn't confident about the match with her, I predicted it to be a hard one. I fought until the end. I lost the first set, but I was able to win it in the end - my wish to win helped me.

- You were slowing down in the third set at the break. What did you think about, or what did you do to get the victory on your side?

- It was my own fault – I started stressing out, talked too much. Maybe that's why I did some stupid mistakes. I knew that the game was important at 4-3, but I also knew that if I fight, I will have my chances, and I was right.

- Spectators were getting worried – we could see that you were looking at your coach and pointing at your leg. What's the situation with that?

- There are some problems. I need to focus on my match, not think about what's happening with that. Hopefully it will be okay. Tommorow I don't have a match, so I will do everything I can to be ready.

- It was a long match. Will you use tomorrow for relaxing or rather do some training?

- Of course, I will have some physiotherapy. I will see my physio even after this. Maybe I'll play a little bit, maybe not. I'll think about that tomorrow.

- Do you think that the referee's decisions broke your opponent?

- I don't think so. That was a long game. I don't know what I would do in her situation. I could've played that point – I was able to reach it, but the referee screamed "out". It was definitely controversial. I can't say much about it, but I believe it wasn't something that broke her. She fought until the end, I just got a bit more lucky.

- How would you compare today's performance with yesterday's one?

- Yesterday I played well, but today I really had to fight. I can't win every match with 6-1, 6-2. These girls know how to play. Of course, this victory was more pleasant.

- Did today's opponent fight harder than your previous one?

- I believe so. My opponent today also plays better. She knows how I play. I think she also likes my playing style, but I don't like hers. (laughter)

- What are your thoughts about the fact, that there's only two seeded players left in the tournament?

- WTA tournament is "open". Anyone can win. Yes, most of the girls know that this tournament is not filled with a lot of good players, and sees an opportunity to get further and receive the points that they need. When they play against me or one of the seeded ones, they are not scared. They are aware of the fact, that they can win.
